Recognising youth entrepreneurialism

Alliance Healthcare in Spain - May 25, 2022

On Monday 23rd May 2022, winners of the this year’s Talent in the Classroom were awarded at an event held at the Espai Maragall in Barcelona, where attendees met in face for the first time in two years. This prestigious competition aims to promote the entrepreneurial culture of students in the region’s secondary schools and is promoted by the City Council of Gavà and Viladecans.

With entries from over 750 young people, competition is fierce.

Alliance Healthcare Spain is proud to announce that after five months of work mentored by the company’s MD Javier Casas and Institutional Relations and Technical directorSofia Barceló, students Leire Macías and Sara Vaquero of the Institut Torre Roja de Viladecans won the 2nd prize for their project "Eat your TCA".

The project is a platform for young people who are going through or recovering from an eating disorder can gain access to services to receive support, information and other appropriate assistance. TCA in Spanish stands for ‘Transtornos de la Conducta Alimentaria’ which translates to ‘Eating Behavioural Disorders’ and so the students used a clever play on words to gain impact for their project.

A youth competition such as this is key to help grow and encourage entrepreneurial spirit amongst young people. The world is a challenging place and anything we can do to support the business leaders of the future has got to be a good thing. Helping and supporting Leire and Sara has been a very rewarding experience for me personally and it was a privilege to mentor them and see how their ideas developed from concept into a full program. We wish them many congratulations for winning this award and wish them every success for the rest of their time in education and of course for their future careers.”
